David W. Jones

David W. Jones started writing the summer before his first year in high school, when he abruptly switched from studying science to writing poetry, music, and fiction. (It's thought to have something to do with girls.) Some poetry has been published. The rest fills bankers boxes in categories perfectly appropriate for an angsty teen.
His stories have appeared in:

His poetry has appeared in a number of age-old print journals:

  • In A Nutshell
  • Dragonfly Quarterly
  • Carousel Quarterly
  • Circus Maximus
  • College Poetry Review

He wrote a mainstream/literary novel, Broken Strings, for his Masters Degree in Creative Writing. It opens with a murder-suicide in front of a crowd of 100,000, goes downhill from there, and says things about the music industry.

He wrote non-fiction articles for HMSA’s now-defunct Being808 blog on living healthy in Hawaii.

Since genres were invented by lazy marketers, he writes stories regardless of genre. But, if you must, his fiction might fit any or all of these genres: fantasy, science fiction, mainstream, dark humor, mystery, romance, literary, frivolous, etc.

He has worked as a professional musician, radio DJ, inventory counter, night cashier at a convenience store across the road from a biker bar, community college instructor, gas station attendant, pearl sales rep, and grocer in Yellowstone National Park.

He made a career in the IT field before coming to his senses and retiring.

Now he writes stories, poetry, and music; and makes photographs and art. Some of his work can be found at his blog, Dancing Treefrog.

Some of his photography can be found at his David Jones Flickr. He really should add more. Selling art and photography online is in the research phase.

Lost in the Stacks

A collection of 24 new short stories with a library theme. With Pixilated in a Public Library David’s contribution looks at an enchanted adventure featuring two young adults wounded by life and who are reminiscent of the characters in O. Henry’s The Gift of the Magi. Thanks to the magical concept of “Book Travel,” they become involved with an Irish pixie named Sasa who finds herself stranded in the library and in need of special help. Will a bit of fairy dust and the power of dreams help resolve the challenges? Fact or fiction, this book will transport the reader to a special place.
